YOUTHFUL BANDIT AND MURDERER TO FACE A JURY
Corydon, Indiana, Sat., February 5-The trial of Tom J. Hoal, the youthful
bandit who attempted bank robberies and committed murder in true Jesse James
style, and this notwithstanding the fact that he never read dime novels,
never drank and never smoked a cigarette, is scheduled to take place before
the Harrison circuit court that convenes here Monday. Since his sensational
arrest in the middle of the Ohio River last November, the youth has been
confined in the reformatory at Jeffersonville awaiting trial. The bravado
he displayed when first placed behind prison bars has long since deserted
him, and he is looking forward to his trial with a full realization of the
fate that probably awaits him.
