Jeffersonville, Indiana, February 10-James McDonald, arrested at Bedford
last night charged with the murder of Sarah Schafer, was brought here this
morning for safekeeping. He refuses to make any statements
Indianapolis, Indiana, February 10-A Jeffersonville dispatch says that
McDonald denied his guilty to Supt. Whittaker of the reformatory but that he
is in a highly nervous state and seems to fear return to Bedford. When he
is taken back to Bedford for his preliminary hearing on February 29, he will
be strongly guarded. Officers spent the day endeavoring to induce him to
confess.
