REV. Z. T. SWEENEY
Appointed Commissioner of Fisheries for Indiana
The first regular appointment made by Gov. Mount since his inauguration came
yesterday in the appointment of Rev. Z. T. Sweeney of this city to the
office of Commissioner of Fisheries. While the office is not a profitable
one from the standpoint of finance, the whole appropriation for it being
less than $1,000, yet it is one that well filled will prove of great
importance to the people.
Mr. Sweeney only consented to take the place at the urgent solicitation of
many interested parties in various parts of the state. But the Republican
predicts that he will fill it to the entire satisfaction.to use the fishing
rod occasionally and has taken a hand in prosecuting violators of the fish
laws. Mr. Sweeney favors rigid laws for the protection of fish.
