HUNDRED DOLLAR PEARL
Valuable Find in White River at Rockford, Jackson County by Tullard Able
Tullard Able, son of Pollard Able of Rockford, found a pearl last Tuesday
that is probably the finest ever found along White River. The pearl weights
.23 grains, is perfect in color and almost round, it requiring a close
inspection to discover an almost imperceptible flattening of the sides. Its
value is approximated at $100.
About twenty years ago Pollard Abel, the father of the young man who found
this large one, discovered a fine pearl in a mussel shell while opening the
mussels to feed his hogs. He at once went to work searching the mussels for
their precious treasures and in a small way was successful. One of them
brought him $100.Many other brought prices from five to sixty dollars.
Since that time Mr. Abel has opened tens of thousands of mussels, one or two
yielding pearls of a hundred dollars value, many others bringing lesser
amount, while the vast majority of them contain only rubbish.

>From 1936 through 1960, the INDIANA MAGAZINE OF HISTORY included a genealogy
section. In 1961, genealogy was continued in a separate publication titled
THE HOOSIER GENEALOGIST. Beginning in 1979, the Indiana Historical Society
reformatted the material from those two periodicals and included it in a
book titled GENEALOGICAL SOURCES and varies volumes of THE SOURCE.
The information noted below was extracted from GENEALOGICAL SOURCES which is
available for purchase at the Indiana Historical Society in Indianapolis,
Indiana. As the material is copyright protected, what I have provided is
the name of the person who made the will and the year it was made. In
actuality, the book includes abstracts of the will, the date it was made,
the date it was probated and any mentioned heirs.

She may have been hacked. Kentuckiana got the same one last week. She's a
long time subscriber to that list and this is not her behavior. I did try
to send her a message (may have been intercepted) but unsubscribed her from
the list.
Is it just me and I'm being overly suspecious? This just not seem likely.

HE IS IN TROUBLE
There is considerable talk in this city and Jeffersonville over a marriage
that was to have taken place in the latter city next Wednesday. The
announcement was made last week that Albert B. Chambers and Miss Lida Bowser
would be married shortly. This information became known to Miss Barbara
Hazel of this city, and she immediately went to Jeffersonville and swore out
a warrant against Chambers for seduction under promise of marriage. The
prospective bridegroom was arrested and placed under $200 bail, which was
furnished.
Miss Hazel says that she became acquainted with Chambers last fall. That
under the promise of marriage, he ruined her and that she is about to become
a mother. Chambers is an engineer on the J. M. & I. Road and told Miss
Hazel some time ago that he was about to go to China and engage in his
trade. He promised to send for her and marry her. Her surprise can be
imagined when she heard he was still in Jeffersonville and about to be
married.
Miss Hazel does not care whether Chambers marries her but she wants him to
make promise for the care of the child. When she becomes a mother she will
not have any home and will have no means to provide. Chambers says it is a
blackmailing scheme. However, he has offered $250 to settle the matter
which has been refused. He will declare the wedding off, waive an
examination and fight the matter in the circuit court.

Mrs. Catherine Jackson who occupies premises till legatee arrives at the age
of 21 years.
To Mrs. Jackson, daughter, is willed real estate on East Fifth Street free
from all debts hitherto contracted.
The sum of $50 is devised to the Catholic priest in charge of Holy Trinity
Church.
Ten dollars is given to Miss Anna G. Ferry and ten dollars to Mrs. Kate

SERIOUS ACCIDENT
A serious runaway accident occurred on West Market Street near Ninth Street

in a rig owned by Kepley & Son. When near Ninth Street the animal became
frightened and ran away. Pennington turned the horse into a fence. The
shock threw the occupants of the wagon out, Penning breaking his leg. His
wife, who is in a delicate condition, had an arm broken and was otherwise so
seriously injured that it is feared death will result. A leg of the horse
