James Edward Allen was born November 2, 1941, in Louisville, Ky. The oldest
child of Bruce Leon and Evelyn Marie Allen. Later his parents moved to
Cincinnati, Ohio.
There Jimmy finished his school years. About 3 ½ years ago he entered the
United State Navy. First he was sent to Ireland for 18 months and then he
was shipped to Nova Scotia. From there he returned to the United Sate in
Norfolk, Va., where his death occurred on October 12, 1963, at the age of 22
years 10 months and 112 days.
Jimmy leaves not only his parents but two brothers and two sisters: Mrs.
Eugene Downey of Cincinnati, Nancy Allen of Paoli and Herbert and Bobby Gene
at home. He leaves his grandmother, Mrs. Floyd Allen of Paoli and Mrs.
Samuel Smith of Dayton, Ohio. Several uncles and aunts also survive.

morning at Ellis Funeral Home. Arrangements are pending the arrival of his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Allen of Cincinnati.
A veteran of several years in the U. S. Navy, the youth was killed in an
automobile accident near his Norfolk, Va., base early Sunday Details of the
accident have not been learned. A military escort will accompany the body.
Surviving with the parents are two sisters, Mrs. Patricia Downing (sic) of
Cincinnati, and Nancy Allen who resides here with an aunt, Mrs. Glenn
Wininger; two brothers, Hubert (sic) and Bobby, both of Cincinnati, paternal
grandmother, Mrs. Floyd Allen and maternal grandmother, Mrs. J. W. Smith of
Dayton, Ohio.

friend. Mr. W. is in love with Kansas and says 60 days will find him
located at Wichita or some other Kansas town, in this we think he has
resolved wisely. Mr. W. has also been the editor of the Pythian Journal of
Indianapolis and is a bright, experienced and intelligent gentleman.

Mrs. Eva Alspaugh, 61, died in Robert Long Hospital, Indianapolis. Funeral
services will be held Friday afternoon at the Paoli Evangelical United
Brethren Church. Burial will be in Community Cemetery.

MRS. HAZEL ALRED, 79, DIES IN INDIANAPOLIS
Mrs. Hazel Alred, 79, long ago resident of Paoli, died at her home in
Indianapolis Sunday after a long illness. Funeral services and burial will
be held there Wednesday.
Mrs. Alred, the former Hazel Kaiser spent her girlhood in Paoli but had
lived in Indianapolis for more than 60 years. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Albert R. Alred, and by two brothers, Ray and Hal Kaiser.
She is survived by three sons, two daughters and several grandchildren.
John P. Riley of Paoli is a half-brother.

ALBERT R. ALRED, 82, DIES IN INDIANAPOLIS
Funeral services will be held Wednesday in Indianapolis for Albert R. Alred,
82, who died there Monday evening after a long illness.
Mr. Alred retired 13 years ago after 50 years with railway express. He is
survived by Mrs. Alred, the former Hazel Kaiser, at one time a resident of
Paoli. She is a sister of Miss Anna Riley and John P. Riley.
