Hi all,
I just subscribed to this list after reading about it in the Rootsweb
mailing. I'm looking for information on Anthony Kartholl aka Anton
Cartholl. The 1870 census has Anthony Kartholl listed in Peru, Indian and
in 1880 he is listed as Anton Cartholl in Delphos, Ohio. Anthony was a
railroader until blinded and severely injured in a train wreck. Those two
residences would point to the Wabash Railroad as the likely employer. He is
buried in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery in Delphos. He is not in the
Pennsylvania RR section of the cemetery, so Wabash may indeed be the road.
I don't know what resources are available for finding employees of railroads
from this period. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would
appreciate it. If there are any records of wrecks and/or injuries from the
late 19th century, I would also appreciate the information.
Thanks,
