Washington, D.C. - Analysis of Slave Data Excerpted from the Parish Register
of Christ Church, Middlesex County, Virginia 1653 to 1812 will be a helpful
research tool for genealogical researchers and family historians. Founded in
1669, Middlesex County is located in the eastern part of Virginia. The book
is organized into four sections: (1) an analysis of slave data (includes
names of slave holders, given slave names, surnames of slaves, identity of
the parents of slaves, multiple slave births and the identity of free
Negroes; (2) a list of slave entries arranged alphabetically by the first or
given name; (3) excerpts from the originally published records of Christ
Church; and (4) the author's transcription of the slave data.
About the Author - Paul E. Sluby, Sr., Co-Founder of the Afro-American
Historical and Genealogical Society, Inc., is a certified genealogist. He
has published numerous books on cemeteries in the metropolitan Washington,
D.C. area.
