Will of Charles Joseph Fladger
Item 1st I give and bequeath unto my daughter SallyMariah two negro slaves
to wit Bill Taylor and Sue Taylor—for andduring the term of her natural life
etc.
Item 5th Igive and bequeath to my children Hugh G., James G., Charles B.,
Elizabeth,Frances Jane, Catherine Lenora, and Sarah Ellen all my personal
propertyconsisting of negroes, horses, cattle, hogs—and all other kinds
whatsoever tobe divided amongst in the following manner to wit—as my said
last mentionedchildren come of the age of twenty-one years or marry it is my
will and desirethat two negroes a boy and a girl be given to such children
after being valuedand that at the final division such child shall account for
the valuation withinterest from the time of delivery. The negro slaves
bequeathed in this clauseof my will is to be given them for & during their
natural lives etc.
Item 6th It is my will and desire that my whole property above bequeathed
shallbe held and kept together until my son Charles B. Fladger is educated
exceptthe negroes given off as my children
Arrive to the age of twenty-one years or marry—And when myson Charles B.
Fladger is educated it is my will and desire that a division ofthe whole
estate shall take place and that my said daughters mentioned in thefifthe
clause of this my will shall each have one negro more than my sons each.
