I don’t think there is a repository for enlistment papers but there are other sources of
information. The Indiana State Archives has a card file for soldiers from Indiana. This
is the description of what they have taken from their website. The cards have been
microfilmed and are available for copying. The cards may contain information about the
individual’s service, including regiment and company, and in many instances the soldier’s
age and physical description, former occupation, nativity and any notes found in the
rolls, including promotions, medical conditions, and dates of death if during service.

The other source of information is the Compiled Military Service Record (CMSR) from the
