I found an old post from you on
Ancestry.com regarding the 42nd Indiana Infantry, Company
B, of the Civil War. My 3ggradfather was W.T.B. McIntire. He enlisted in (Pike) Indiana in
1860 I believe, and mustered out as Colonel in December 1864. He fought at Stones River
(Murfreesboro), Wartrace, and Chaplin Hills Being the only field Officer present, he sent
a letter, dating Mar. 24, 1863, to headquarters requesting a change to their banner
reflecting those battles. He then sent a letter.May 28,1863, containing two dollars to pay
express charges on the flag.I did find one record listed him as Wm. T.B. Mcentero, but
that is someone's folly, as I have looked at the record and know that they read it
wrong. I have one picture of him in his later years. He died in November,1904 in Oregon at
the age of 78. At the time of his death he was a member of Lincoln-Garfield Post No. 3.I
would love to know if you have any information on him. Also any pictures that you may
have. I am most int!
erested in putting together a full file or book of this man for my family. Thank You
