Thank You for your reply. I took a look at my records to refresh my memory. Found war
records that show George enlisted as Private, 21st infantry regiment in 1861. He was
promoted through ranks, Corporal 1861, Sergeant 1862, First Sergeant 1863, Lieutenant
April 1864, and Captain March 1865. All of his time was with Company E, 21st Indiana
Infantry & then designated 1st Heavy artillery.
He was wounded at the Battle of Batton Rouge.
He was a blacksmith before entering the service.
That's about all I have to go on. Relatives have a box of family photos, but they are
also unmarked and we havn't had any luck trying to Identify them either.
