Bonnie,
If you go to the following web site run by the National Park Service, you can search for
almost any
soldier of the Civil War.
http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/ Go to this site and click on the
"Soldiers"
link and type in the name you are looking for. I found one Francis Barnett listed in the
35th Ohio.
The information is below.
Francis Barnett (First_Last)
Regiment Name 35 Ohio Infantry
Side Union
Company C
Soldier's Rank_In Pvt.
Soldier's Rank_Out Pvt.
Film Number M552 roll 5
This is one great site, so be sure to Bookmark it!

Subject: [IN-CIVIL-WAR] Francis Barnett, Civil War Veteren?
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has access to any databases or
lists of Indiana Civil War vets, even if they served in
another state's regiment?
Would you look up Francis Barnett, who died in 1870 and
is buried in Indianapolis? He may have fought in the
35th OH Volunteer Infantry.
I'd appreciate any info - thanks.
