Hi Ron,
I have been busy with after the holidays clean up! The family from Florida
showed up at the door as a surprise...
We will all need to get back to our research. Maybe we can get things
started again.
Searching for the Sterling family from Vigo Co., Indiana Would love to have
more information on the units.
William Alexander Sterling 147th Ind. Inf. Company F.
Rueben N. Sterling 54th Ind. Vol. Inf. Company B. 1862 was wounded and
taken prisoner at West Point. served his term out and re-enlisted in the
115th Ind. Vol. Inf. served six months--re-enlisted 18th Indiana Battery,
Capt Beck's Light Artillery served until the end of the war.
John T. Sterling served in the 11th Inf. Reg. Indiana Company D. Enlisted 6
Feb 1864 received the Medal of Honor at the Opequon Third Winchester
Virginia battle.
I would also like to know at what ages they were required to serve and under
what conditions. How long? What was their pay. How did they help their
families? In other words the conditions at the time. I will keep researching
though.
If anyone can add to my knowledge please write.

Folks,
George W. Hill served in Co. F of the 100th IV, and I have the book
"With Sherman to the Sea" which chronicles actions of the 100th.
I'm interested in any additional information which may mention George
Hill or his activities. I have the National Archive information.
