VETERANS: UNCLE SAM WANTS YOUR STORIES
Did you or someone you know serve in the US military
during wartime? The Library of Congress and the
American Folklife Center want those stories for the
Veterans History Project, which is collecting and
preserving veterans' audio- and video-taped oral
histories, along with documents such as letters,
diaries, maps, photographs and home movies. Since the
project quietly began a year ago, organizers have
collected more than 100 tapes. Now with official
fanfare, organizers will begin soliciting material
from an estimated 25 million living veterans from
World War I and beyond. Once submissions have been
collected and cataloged, they will be publicly
