Hi William Taber
I think it's fascinating how you go to the cemeteries and take pictures.
Have you ever gone to Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw (Kosciusko County)? That's
where my mother's people are buried. At least some of them. I tried to
take pictures of markers but they didn't come out. Maybe I'm doing
something wrong. Is there a trick to it? I took these pictures in a
cemetery here in Boston where my father's people are buried. Since I'm from
Massachusetts and I can't get to Oakwood Cemetery very easily, I would be
interested to know if you ever visited there..
Thanks for listening. Pat

Hello Neilia
I've never heard of this cemetery, so I can't help you with any info
on this particular cemetery. However, I can tell you I have visited
a number of cemeteries over the last several months and photographed
markers at each one of them with no problem.
I've never called ahead, but your point is well taken. I would hate
to travel to a cemetery, only to find out it was closed on Thursday,
or some such nonsense.
Cemeteries vary widely, as I'm sure you already realize. Again, I
can't say about Eagle Creek, but in some of the larger cemeteries,
like Highland Lawn in Vigo County, they were well staffed and the
lady behind the desk spent a good hour with me, researching records.
In fact, I was able to help her out with a few details, as there were
spelling variations of my surname, as well as multiple spellings of
given names. I also helped her with relationships of the individuals
and she put it all in the database, and then generated a print-out
for me to take to the plot. (before my visit, my relatives had not
made it into the computer yet, but were still on 3x5 cards).
You can see my results here, if interested...
