Hello,
I research a lot in IL, and for many counties local genealogy societies have
published cemetery records of all of the cemeteries in that county. These
books are available in the county library, and generally in surrounding
counties (because, I believe, they exchanged books from the other county).
Does Indiana have a similar situation?
Several months ago I visited the Fort Wayne library and was disappointed that
they didn't seem to have many cemetery records. I am interested in
descendants of a Randolph Co. family, some of whom stayed there and others of
whom migrated to Wayne, Blackford, Delaware, Jay, and Adams Co., among
others. My question is: Where could I go and find cemetery records for
these counties? Does the State Library in Indianapolis have them? If I can
find dates of death of these descendants in cemetery records, then I can look
for obituaries - that's my plan.
If possible, I would appreciate an answer soon today because I'll be in IN
tonight through Saturday. (But I'd still like to know the answer to my
question for my next trip, if not this one!)
Will appreciate any advice!
Thanks!
