Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Good morning folks,
As a further test for you, I'm sending my response to the IN Cemeteries
list as well as to each of your e-addys. So, if it works, each of you
should recieve 2 copies (1 to the IN Cemeteries list & the other to your
e-addy), and i should receive one - the default posting that's
programmed for each list.

The list manager for another list posted a message yesterday where she
said that there are on-going problems at Rootsweb that are being worked
on. Those problems she related directly to the work Rootsweb began last
weekend on their servers.
Also, there's a problem with the browser function for at least one of
the Rootsweb lists I'm subscribed to. The problem began this past
Monday. I'd go to the list page (ie. - KSSALINE) and click on the
browser option - and get no response, at all. Next, I tried to use the
search function instead and received a statement that there is no such
archived list. ...
So I'm planning on waiting awhile before posting any more data -- I'm
far too lazy & don't want to have to put in the hours re-typing (I'm
_way_ too slow a typist <<grin>>!).
Additionally, the list manager mentioned that there appears to be a
problem with a search engine that is located in Salt Lake City. ...It's
possible that this is tied in with the earthquake that hit the Seattle
region earlier this week; the timing is certainly right. ... Isn't
Rootsweb located on the west coast?! I know my Webtv service is, and
there's been quite a bit of annoying problems with it that just won't go
away.
I guess patience is the word until they get all the bugs worked out.
Despite all the problems, I hope the weekend is a good one for both of
you.
Karen

This article was in the Thursday, February 22, 2001 issue of the Indianapolis Star:
State Seeks Information on Early Graveyards
"Hear the words of one brave woman: "No, I don't want them to write me. I want them to call me."
That's Jeannie Regan-Dinius, whose title at the Department of Natural Resources is database director, but whose job
description might be Cemetery Finder. If you know of an old cemetery in Indiana, she wants to hear from you.
Last year, the Indiana General Assembly authorized the DNR to create an electronic central list of the state's historic
cemeteries and prehistoric burial sites, but provided no money for the project. Regan-Dinius is the only person
involved in the effort to create a new state registry and database.
By the end of this week, she hopes to have a form that people can fill out.
Eventually, she said, the public will have access to the completed database.
If you want to report a cemetery, call Regan-Dinius at the DNR Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology at
(317)232-1646. If you or your group wants to volunteer to help with the project, she really, really wants to hear from
you."
I have tried to send mail to this list and has been returned. I am sending
this to see it I get this returned to me also. I am believeing there is a
problem somewhere. Fireflower -- Beej
Is it actually a returned message or the copy you receive since you are on the
list itself?

Meanings Long Forgotten
Do you know what these initials mean when you find them amidst your genealogy
papers?
The term a.a.s. meant died in the year of his or her age, e.g., 86 years old
and died in year 1886
The term d.s.p. meant died without issue (without having had children)
The term d.s.p.l. meant died without legitimate issue
The term d.s.p.m.s. meant died without surviving male issue

tidbit.)

I am the Staff Genealogist at Crown Hill Cemetery and received your message
regarding the National Cemetery Book. I should have it ready for sale in
another month. There are several stones that have the birth dates on them
(these births are not in our book records). Anywayi Iwant to add this
information but the weather has been too cold and rainy for me to get out to
read them for more information.
The graves are listed in the Crown Hill database that is on line by name,
anyone buried in Sections 9 and/or 10 will be in the National Cemetery. The
information in our books is the name, rank, unit, date of death and the grave
number. I want to add more in the book.

Hi Vickie,
Quick response. Thanks.
I believe it is at the end of West Street, the back entrance is the one we
always use to go there. It is the street behind the Court House coming from
Frankfort, IN. I used to live in Frankfort and am planning on moving back
there this June when my Grandchildren get out of school for the summer. If
I could find some of the ancestors graves before I go up then I could find
them easier when I get back up there. Most of them are in section 37, but
differnet lot numbers. The lot numbers are not legible on some of them so I
was having trouble finding them. Some of them don't even have stones or
markers of any kind on them. I think that is sad for as well as they keep
up the grounds. They are always well mowed and when we were there last May
they were watering all the plants that people had put there.
As for the directions to the cemetery we come from Frankfort, we pass the
courthouse and on the next street, what I call the back of the courthouse is
the street it is on. We turn left and go clear to the end of the street.
That is the rear entrance to the cemetery.
Would appreciate any help you could give.
Thanks
Mary
