Betty Lee (Lichtenberger) French, 79, of Carmi, passed away at 11:05 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011 at her residence.
Betty was born June 15, 1932 in White County, the daughter of Charles
Maurice and Bertha A. (Barlow) Lichtenberger. She married Marion Eugene
French on April 4, 1952. She was a past member of the Carmi VFW Women's
Auxiliary and the American Legion. Betty was a lifetime member of First
Christian Church in Carmi.
Betty is survived by her husband of 59 years, Marion; a son and
daughter-in-law, Kevin L. and Patti French of Evansville, Ind.; a grandson,
Wesley French, and a granddaughter and her husband, Kristy and Justin Roll
of Nashville, Tenn.; and a sister, Mary Lee of Winter Haven, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ray and Ralph
Lichtenberger; and three sisters, Pauline Bachman, Frieda Blackford and
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011 at
Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, with Steve McClure officiating. Burial will
be in White County Memorial Garden near Carmi. Friends may call from 5 until
7 p.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in
Betty's memory to First Christian Church and will be accepted at the funeral
