Lucille (Howard) Wilson
MARCH 5, 1925 ~ JANUARY 31, 2018 (AGE 92)
Lucille Wilson, 92, of Norris City, passed away at 1:10 p.m., Wednesday,
January 31, 2018 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado. She was born in Hamilton
County, IL on March 5, 1925 the daughter of Sherman and Pearl Mae (Douglas)
Howard. Lucille married John M. Wilson on October 13, 1944 and he preceded
her in death on February 19, 2008. She retired from the Ainsbrooks Garment
Factory and was a farm wife.
Lucille is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Aud, of Norris City;
brother, John "Tommy" (Emily Dean) Howard, of Lawrenceville; sister, Linda
(Gene) Ellison, of Norris City; two grandchildren, Stephanie Schenkel and
Stephen Aud; three great-grandchildren, Ryan and Makayla Schenkel and Logan
John Aud and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her
parents, husband, two brothers, Everett and Eddie Howard, sister, Louis
Spence and two sister-in-laws, Nancy and Icia Howard,
Funeral services for Lucille Wilson, 92, of Norris City, will be held at
1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Plainview General Baptist Church in
Norris City. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery, Visitation will be from
11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018.

Dorothy Ann "Dot" (Theisen) Eck
MARCH 23, 1929 ~ FEBRUARY 8, 2018 (AGE 88)
Dorothy "Dot" Eck, 88, of Norris City, passed away at 4:40 p.m., Thursday,
February 8, 2018 at the Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, IN. She was
born in Detroit, MI on March 23, 1929 the daughter of Albert Joseph and Eva
Mona (Yokum) Theisen. Dot had worked at Doug's and the Wonder Market and
more recently at the Norris City Library and the White County Senior
Citizens. Dot had many hobbies including photography and joke telling, she
was an avid painter, writer of poetry, loved quilting and sewing, working
word puzzles, playing cards and games and loved nature.
Dot is survived by three sons, Dan and Roxane Eck, of Springerton, Steve
and Kim Eck, of North Bend, WA and Joe and Deborah Eck, of Virden, IL;
daughter, Diane and Jerome Naas, of Cottonwood, IL; 10 grandchildren,
Danielle and Heath Short, Ryan and Lacy Eck, Jeremy Ionson, Alex and Dustin
Howie, Shane and Holly Norris, Brittany and John Costello, Monica
Rosenberger, Brandon Eck, Kory and Jennifer Naas, Rick Naas, Kinsey Naas and
Jarod Nichols, and Alexa Naas; 12 great-grandchildren, Wyatt Ellison, Aydan
Allen, Gabby and Emmi Short, Brier, Blane, Bryce and Mallory Eck, Dawson and
Beau Howie, Emmett Norris and Karver Naas. She was preceded in death by her
parents, her brothers, Albert and Robert Theisen, sister, Ilene Theisen, two
sisters-in-law, Kay and Patricia Theisen, and a beloved granddaughter, Amy
(Eck) Ellison and a great-grandson, Henry Norris.
A Celebration of Dot Eck's life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday,
February 11, 2018 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City with visitation
from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery at
a later date. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations
be made in Dot's memory to the White County Senior Citizens Center in Carmi
or the Linda E. White Hospice Center in Evansville, IN and will be accepted
at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.
William "Bill" S. Newman
JULY 16, 1923 ~ FEBRUARY 9, 2018 (AGE 94)
William S. "Bill" Newman, 94, of Marion, formerly of Enfield passed away at
9:30 p.m., Friday, February 9, 2018 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in
Marion, IL. He was born July 16, 1923 in Enfield, IL the son of Howard
Thomas and Nellie (Land) Newman. Bill married Fay Kinsey on February 19,
1949. He was a truck driver for 30 plus years and retired from Therma Gas.
Bill also farmed and enjoyed gardening. He was a member of Bethel Methodist
Bill is survived by his wife of 68 years, Fay; a daughter, Cathy Newman
of Marion; and two nieces, Judith Morris and Sandra Paul. He was preceded
in death by his parents and a brother, Edward G. Newman.
Graveside funeral services and burial for William S. "Bill" Newman will
be at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2018 in Enfield Cemetery in
Enfield, IL. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00
a.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Memorial contributions may be made
in Bill's memory to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at
Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
Alan D. Brand
SEPTEMBER 16, 1957 ~ FEBRUARY 11, 2018 (AGE 60)
Alan "Big Al" Brand, 60, of Carmi, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018
at Enfield Rehab and Nursing in Enfield. Alan was born September 16, 1957,
the son of George Edward and Beulah Murl (Sanders) Brand. He was married to
Maria Williams and she preceeded him in death. Alan worked in the oil field
industry for Mitchell Drilling.
Alan is survived by Linda Evans of Norris City; two daughters, Monica
Brand and Melissa Brand-Welch, both of Carmi; two brothers, Kevin Lee Brand
and Thomas Wayne Frymire; and three sisters, Vonda Lou Sturgal, Marilyn
Laverne Maughan, and Brenda Kaye Berry.
Alan was preceeded in death by his parents; wife Maria; two brothers,
John Morris Frymire and Loren Murrell Frymire; and three sisters, Loretta
Fern Frymire, Daisy Marie Wilson, and Connie Lee Frymire.
Per Alan's wishes, he was cremated. A Celebration of Life with burial
will be held at a later date. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge
Glenard "Sarge" Holtzclaw
OCTOBER 11, 1925 ~ FEBRUARY 14, 2018 (AGE 92)
Glenard "Sarge" Holtzclaw, 92, of Carmi, passed away at 11:19 p.m.,
Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Carmi, on
October 11, 1925 the son of Raymond and Lorena (McCarty) Holtzclaw, Sarge
married Mary Doris Smith whom he was married to for 39 years. He later
married Mary Catherine "Danelle" Pennington on February 14, 1986 and she
preceded him in death on June 16, 2017. He was a 25 year U.S. Army veteran
serving during three wars, World War II, Korea and two tours in Vietnam.
Sarge is survived by three daughters, Sharon (Robert) Nichols, of
Westfield, IN, Jan Rodgers, of Indianapolis, IN and Glenda Jackson, of Dix,
IL; two step-daughters, Rosemary (Jack) Aud, of Carmi and Becky (Scott)
Flowers, of Holland, MI; step-son, Harold "Corkie" (Brenda) Pennington, of
Carmi; mother of his children, Mary Doris Holtzclaw, of Indianapolis, IN;
brother, Charles Holtzclaw, of MA; 11 grandchildren, Robin Clark, Doris
Wainwright, Michael Nichols, Darryl Holtzclaw, Kelly Higgins, Randy
Minnerup, Christopher Minnerup, Shelly Brown, Robert Maxfield, Melissa
Haycraft and Kenny Jackson; 3 step-grandchildren, Jackie Flechs, Cody
Flowers and Kendra Pennington; 29 great-grandchildren and 12
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Lorena Holtzclaw,
his wife, Danelle, daughter, Nancy Minnerup, brother, Danny Holtzclaw,
sister, Susie Evans, two grandchildren, Barbara Poling and Kevin Minnerup
and two step-grandchildren, John Aud and Zachary Flowers.

Robert L. "Bob" Oxford
DECEMBER 19, 1975 ~ FEBRUARY 17, 2018 (AGE 42)
Robert L. "Bob" Oxford, 42, of Carmi passed away at 9:00 p.m., Saturday,
February 17, 2018 at his residence. He was born December 19, 1975 in
Peoria, IL the son of Robert Nathan and Betty Sue (Belt) Oxford. Bob
married Polly L. Palmer on May 21, 2010. He was a 1994 graduate of Norris
City-Omaha-Enfield High School and had many hobbies including video games,
but mostly enjoyed being outdoors, working in his garden, but especially
fishing. Bob worked as a truck driver, at Kincaid's in Fairfield and most
recently at Gilliard's True Value in Grayville.
Bob is survived by his wife of 7 years, Polly; his parents, Bob and
Betty Oxford of Norris City; a son, Javier Charles Nathan Oxford of Carmi; a
sister, Amanda Oxford of Eldorado; a brother, Adam (Stella) Oxford of Carmi;
two nephews and a niece, Daniel Duncan and Brieanna and Sebastian Oxford;
and extended brother and sister, Sarah and Daniel Grondin.
A Visitation to Celebration Bob's Life will be held on Wednesday,
February 21, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in
Norris City. Memorial contributions may be made in Bob's memory to Campbell
Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses or to Cardinal Glennon

Bernard L. Hughes
NOVEMBER 16, 1931 ~ FEBRUARY 24, 2018 (AGE 86)
Bernard L. Hughes, 86, of Norris City, passed away on Saturday, February 24,
2018 at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi. Bernard was born in White
County, IL on November 16, 1931, the son of Marion and Lillian (Bryant)
Hughes. He married Marilyn J. Johnson on June 14, 1952. Bernard served in
the Army during the Korean War. He worked as a farmer and as a Postal Clerk
for the Norris City Post Office. Bernard was a member of Powell General
Baptist Church, where he served as both a Deacon and a Trustee.
Bernard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marilyn Hughes of Norris
City; two daughters, Dinah (Don) Allen of Norris City, and Mavis Tate of
Carmi; two sons, Denzil (Debbie) Hughes and Marcus (Teresa) Hughes, both of
Norris City; three brothers, Rev. Harold (Janie) Hughes of Mt. Carmel, Leon
Hughes of The Plains, OH, and Dean Hughes of Norris City; a sister,
Coradella (Jared) Baker of Newburgh, IN; a sister-in-law, Cindy Hughes of
Harrisburg; seven grandchildren, Daniel Allen, David Allen, Seth Tate,
Clayton Tate, Bryan O'Neal, Trenton Hughes, and Hillary Yates; and nine
Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Paul
and David Carroll Hughes; and a sister-in-law, Pat Hughes.
Funeral services for Bernard L. Hughes, 86, of Norris City, will be held
at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Campbell Funeral Home in
Norris City. Burial will be in Powell Cemetery with full military rites by
the Carmi American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be on Monday, February
26, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris
City. Memorial contributions may be made in Bernard's memory to the Norris
City Ministerial Alliance and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
Kenneth Wayne Funkhouser
OCTOBER 7, 1926 ~ FEBRUARY 26, 2018 (AGE 91)
Kenneth Wayne Funkhouser, 91, Carmi, passed away Monday, February 26, 2018
at 5:05 a.m. at Carmi Manor. He was born October 7, 1926 in Eldorado. IL the
son of Leroy "Roy" and Helen (Allen) Funkhouser. He married Alpha Eleanor
Orman on April 20, 1946 and she preceded him in death on September 30, 2009.
Wayne was a livestock and grain farmer. He was a member of Emmanuel United
Methodist Church in Carmi. Wayne served on several church boards throughout
his life. He was a music evangelist for many local revivals and was Music
Director at Cherry St. Baptist Church for many years.
Surviving are two daughters Jeanna Funkhouser of Hermitage, TN and Nancy
Abby and her husband Darrell of Bedford, TX; two grandchildren Tracy (Tim)
Lindvall and Brian (Brooke) Abby; eight great-grandchildren, Andrew,
Brandon, Connor, Dustin and Abby Lindvall and Braydon, Benjamin and Brody
Abby. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Helen Funkhouser
and his wife, Eleanor Funkhouser.
A graveside service and burial for Kenneth Wayne Funkhouser will be held
at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 3, 2018 at North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi
with Rev. Terry Hall officiating. Visitation will be at the Campbell
Funeral Home in Carmi on Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Emmanuel United Methodist
Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
Madge Brooks-Hutchcraft, 97, of Carmi, passed away at 12:10 p.m., Tuesday,
March 13, 2018 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born in
White County on April 26, 1920 the daughter of Hobart and Minda (Duckworth)
Young, Madge married Leland Brooks in 1937 and he preceded her in death in
1970. She later married Albert Glen Hutchcraft in December 15, 1984 and he
preceded her in death in September 15, 2010. Madge was a housewife and a
member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Madge is survived by a son, Bart and Millie Brooks, of Norris City;
daughter, Judy Lee Fleck, of Carmi; four grandchildren, Beth McCoy, Kevin
Stocke, Kent Stocke and Krista Prather; five great grandchildren, Brooke
McCoy, Bailey McCoy, Jacob Stocke, Ethan Prather and Ariel Allen and one
great-great-grandchild on the way.
Funeral services for Madge Brooks-Hutchcraft will be held at 1:00 p.m.,
on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will
be in White County Memorial Garden in Carmi. Visitation will be from 11:00
a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at
Campbell Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in Madge's memory
to Wabash Christian Village Memory Care Unit and will be accepted at
Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of arrangements.
Shirley Ann Curry,77, of Carmi passed away at 4:10 pm, Thursday, March 1,
2018 at her granddaughters residence. She was born in Marmaduke, AR on April
21, 1940 the daughter of Orville Truman and Mabel Rose (Sheridan) Wycoff.
Shirley married John E. Curry on September 21, 1975 and he preceded her in
death on November 18, 2016. She worked production for National Metalware.
Shirley is survived by two daughters, Kathy and Gary Wilson of Oak Grove
Heights, AR and Carolyn Collins of Paragould, AR; step-son, Rudy and Angela
Curry of Carmi; two step-daughters, Mary and Dale Curtis of Enfield and
Juanita and Sammy Stokes of Carmi; brother, Truman Wycoff, of Senath, MO;
sister, Mary Sue Tackett, of Paragould, AR; 14 grandchildren, 28
great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchilren. She was preceded in
death by her parents, Orville and Mabel Wycoff, her husband, John Curry, two
brothers, Bubby and Charlie Wycoff and a sister, Helen McClash.
