Lola Florence Cozart, 84, of Newburgh, IN and formerly of Carmi, passed away
at 11:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in
Newburgh, IN. She was born June 4, 1933 in Carmi, IL the daughter of Arvil
and Alliebelle (Brewer) Emery. Lola was a housewife and a member of the
First Christian Church in Carmi. She loved reading her bible, watching
sports, listening to music and watching John Wayne and classic movies.
She is survived by three sons, Rod (Cathy) Cozart, Jeff (Tracey) Cozart
both of Newburgh, IN and Doug (Kelly) Cozart, of Evansville, IN; brother,
John Emery, of Carmi; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by her parents, Arvil and Alliebelle Emery and two
brothers, Louis and Jack Edward Emery.

Phil Robinson, 68, of Crossville died at 5:22 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 22 at
Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mount Vernon. He was a truck driver.
Survivors include a daughter, Jodi Robinson of Fairfield and one grandchild.
Per Phil's wishes, his body will be cremated with no formal services held.
The Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home is in charge of all the arrangements.
Gloria L. (Butler) Bradley

Gloria L. Bradley, 81, of Norris City passed away at2:25 a.m., Saturday,
October 21, 2017 at the Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, IN. She
was born October 23, 1935 in Carnegie, Oklahoma the daughter of John Coba
and Ima Jean (McMichael) Butler. Gloria had worked as a nurse's aide at the
White County Hospital Skilled Care Unit and at Wabash Christian Retirement
She is survived by three daughters, Brenda Brewer of Durant, OK, Janice
Archer of Norris City and Virginia (Donald) Gibson of Murfreesboro, TN; a
son, Nick (Dee Dee) Bradley of Norris City; three sisters, Shirley, Patsy
and Judy; three brothers, David, Pee Wee and Jackie; along with 10
grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
Gloria was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Bradley on February 16, 2006;
sister, Linda; brother, Johnny; and a great-great grandson, Holden.

Earl McKinley DeLong

Earl McKinley DeLong, 74, of Carmi passed away at 10:54 a.m., Thursday,
October 19, 2017 at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, MD. He was
born in Henderson, KY on April 1, 1943 the son of McKinley and Ruby Clara
(O'Bryant) DeLong. Earl married Donna Kay Wilson on June 5, 1971. He
retired as a Railroad Track Foreman for CSX.
Earl is survived by his wife of 46 years, Donna DeLong, of Carmi; two
sons Jeff (Tricia) DeLong, of Evansville, IN and Kenny (Terrie) DeLong, of
Henderson, KY; sister, Annie Moyers, of Woodbine, MD; six grandchildren,
four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in
death by his parents, McKinley and Ruby DeLong, his son, Keith DeLong, four
brothers, John W., David B., Thomas E. and Marlin R. Stone and a sister,
Betty Jean Watson.

p.m., on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial

Helen I. Renshaw, 93 of Enfield passed away Friday October 13, 2017 at Good
Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL. She was born June 19, 1924 in Mill
Shoals, the daughter of Matt and Aileen (Hendershott) Thomas. She married
Chester Renshaw on January 19, 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1992.
Helen was a homemaker, she loved her family. She was a member of the Enfield
United Methodist Church and had been active in the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by her son, Bill (Shirley) Renshaw of McLeansboro;
grandchildren, Pam (Brad) Miller and Julie (Larry) Ellison; great
grandchildren, Caleb (Magen) Miller and Emily (Cory) Skelton;

at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born July 25, 1961 in
Carmi, the daughter of Donald Ross and Donna (Ward) James. She married James
B. Ballard on September 3, 1982.
Barb had been a hairdresser for many years working out of Reflections Beauty
Shop. She loved spending time at Kentucky Lake and the beaches in Florida.

William F "Bill" Atteberry
October 19, 1931 - October 02, 2017
William F. "Bill" Atteberry, 85, of Carmi, Illinois, died Monday, October 2,
2017, at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi. He was born October 19, 1931, in
Fairbury, Illinois, the son of Frank and Beulah (Vaughn) Atteberry. He was
married to Audrey (Crocker) Atteberry on June 6, 1953, and she preceded him
in death on December 30, 2015.
Bill was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Carmi and was
well known in the Carmi area as an oil producer. He and his wife, Audrey
were actively involved in the VFW and The American Legion (where he served
as a past State Commander). He was a Corporal in the Army, and served in the
Korean War. Other memberships include 40/8, and life member of the Canadian
American Legion. Among his pastimes were fishing, bird watching, travelling,
and gardening (where his weed control skills were second to none).
Survivors include son Todd Atteberry of Carmi; daughter Vickie (Charles)
Craddock of Norris City, Illinois; sisters Wanda (Jack) Cosgrove of Quincy,
Illinois, and Bernice Ehlers of Crescent City, Illinois; grandchildren Sarah
(Christian) Chekroun, Amanda Roberts, Daniel Craddock, Teelin Atteberry.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; and daughters Sharon Leigh
Atteberry and Kim Anita Brown.
Visitation is 5-7 pm, Thursday, October 5th at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi.

Carl L. Duke, 57, of Carmi, Illinois, died Monday, October 2, 2017, at
Wabash Christian Village in Carmi. He was born August 8, 1960, in Sullivan,
Indiana, the son of Cletus F. and Janice Marie (DeHart) Duke.
Carl worked in the oilfields of the Illinois Oil Basin. He enjoyed camping,
fork lift rodeos, white water rafting, fishing, the beach at Maunie,
Illinois, cooking, barbeques, and spending time with family, especially his

Melba Louann Lamp Williams, 84, of Norris City, passed away at 1:43 a.m.,
Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Wabash Christian Village. She was born in
Broughton, IL on October 26, 1932 the daughter of Sam Monroe and Elsie Vay
(Johnson) Allen. Melba married Lindley Eugene Lamp November 5, 1948 and he
preceded her in death on May 14, 2002. Later she married John Robert
Williams on November 18, 2002. She was a homemaker.
Melba is survived by her husband, Bob Williams of Norris City; two
sisters; Marjorie (Ezra) Millspaugh of Norris City and Joy Inboden of
Mcleansboro, IL and a nephew, Rocky (Vicki) Inboden of Wilmington, DE. She
was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Elsie Allen, her first
husband, Lindley Lamp, sons, Terry Vance and Terry Lynn Lamp, daughter,

Hattie Randolph Travelstead, formerly of Carmi, passed away peacefully on
October 1, 2017, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg, South
Carolina. From a family of five brothers and four sisters, she was born
September 8, 1921, in rural White County near Mill Shoals, the daughter of
William and Elva (Johnson) Randolph. She was preceded in death by her
husband, parents, siblings, and a granddaughter, Jennifer Michelle
While employed at the L. Haas store in Carmi, Hattie caught the eye of
Leslie Travelstead, and they were married September 1, 1941. After Les
returned from the South Pacific in World War II, they set up housekeeping
and raised three children; Michael (Nancy Kern) of Macedonia, IL, Edison of
Nashville, TN and Becky (Tom) Blackwell of Simpsonville, SC., who survive.
Later, Hattie would be an able assistant as bookkeeper of their insurance

After becoming a widow at age 61, Hattie devoted her time as a caregiver
for both the elderly and the young. Known to those who love her as a great

Gary Allen Nixon, 76, of Carmi passed away at 2:40 a.m., Monday, October
2, 2017 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born in Chicago, IL
on April 27, 1941 the son of Harold M. and Inez (Crayne) Nixon. Gary married
Sharon Lannette Winter on August 2, 1969. He served in the United States
Marine Corps during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Gary was a self employed
painter and later with Tommy Churchwell Painting. He was a member of the VFW
post 3851. Gary enjoyed flipping houses, woodworking and redoing furniture.
Gary is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sharon (Winter) Nixon, of
Carmi; daughter, Donna (Jerry) Davis, of Carmi; brother, Harold E. "Mike"
Nixon, of Greeley, CO; sister, Louise Bledsoe, of Zeeland, MI;
half-brothers, George Nixon, Harold Nixon, Jr. both of Illinois, Melvin
Nixon and John Nixon both of Arizona; half-sister, Violet (Nixon) Schaefer;
two grandchildren, Devin (Amanda) Nixon-Davis and Alton (Kiersten) Folz and
three great-grandsons, Mason Joe Folz, Stryder Allen Nixon-Davis and Brayden
Lee Prater. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold M. Nixon and
Inez (Crayne) Aldrich, a daughter, Christie Nixon Bozorgpour, a
granddaughter, Lannette Marie Headlee and a half-brother, Mike Nixon.
