You have to ask the hard questions don't you.
What I have on William L. Throop I obtained from the census and Illinois State Archives
and my own deductions and assumptions and the same goes for Elizabeth. Oh and the
erroneous book Throop Tree. Sorry for all the ands, I kept remembering more and still
might. Been doing this for way too long.
William L. Throop was born sometime between 1842-1845 in Illinois, but am leaning towards
1844-1845 due to his marriage date. Sources the 1850 and 1860 US Federal Census
Illinois.
1850 he is listed as 7 and 1860 he is listed as 15. I found his marriage record to
Caroline Latimer 29 June 1861 in Perry County, Illinois in the Illinois State Archives. I
am not sure where I found his death date and place; 27 August 1863 in Paradise Prairie,
Illinois but have nothing to back that up. It could have been on
ancestry.com or that
stupid Throop Tree book (which may have so many errors we decided to throw it out and
start over). I can go to my hard files to see if it is in there, but that box is bulging
and may not be easy. I have only recently (last year or so) been putting my hardcopy
research on
ancestry.com tree to see what pops up there. Most of my research was when
prior to that when you had to search more yourself page by page.
William was not listed in the Civil War Registrations Records for the 13th district or at
all that I remember, as were his father, brother and uncle (LD- I assume is Lawrence
Dovener which fits the age stated) in July 1863. But I still have several databases to
check out still.
I have my tree private because I have a lot of hints/possibles in the tree to make it
easier for me to follow leads etc... and I don't want someone just taking the info as
gospel and then next thing you know 20 people have it in their tree after you find out you
were wrong. LOL
I do not have a L. Throop. Where did you find that info?
As for Elizabeth, well I am not even sure she is a sister. This doubt came from the
census records. 1860 there is no Elizabeth Throop listed but there is an Elizabeth
Thompson age 5 born in Illinois listed right under Caleb's nephew Noah Washburn age 10
listed as part of Caleb's household. Then in the 1870 census there is only an
Elizabeth M. Throop age 15 born in Tenn. listed as a part of Caleb's household. Other
then that I have nothing on her, YET.
As for Christina Youngblood, well Tennessee is not great with online records. I will have
to take a trip out that way more then likely to find out more information there. If I
remember correctly there was nothing on
ancestry.com. I had to go searching elsewhere for
that. I know the Throop Tree book just has Elizabeth listed with no mention of a last
name (Smith) and no mention of Christina either. That might be in my hard copy
notebooks.
Perhaps to make this easier we might wish to continue offlist. You may contact me at

Oh and by the way, my name is Tammy, I am female not male. LOL
Anyone with information or wanting info may feel free to contact me there as well.
