There has been a major problem with certain lists on Rootsweb since last
Friday. This list is one of the ones that was involved in the Crashed
Server. We are again up and running. I have a favor to ask each of you.
You are going to begin in a little while receiving all the messages that
have been backing up in the system since last Friday. Please be
understanding, USE YOUR DELETE KEY, yelling and screaming will not stop it.
I will have messages coming to me from 5 lists hitting me all at once along
with bouncing messages and messages from those of you asking for help.
If you have asked to be unsubscribed, that request was most likely never
received. Please understand that even if I unsubscribe you now, I cannot
stop what you are going to receive.
If the lists do not look the same, meaning the headers are gone. I will bo
back and take care of that when this flood is over.
Good luck and I look forward to getting back to normal when the sun is

If anyone has access to the 1880 PERRY County Census
could you please check for the following household? (Or in ANY County , if
you have the 1880 Census for the state.)
James was in Jackson Co., Ill in 1850 with his parent's
1860 unknown where he was at.
1870 he was in Perry Co., Ill with wife and children
1880 unknown where they are
1887 Laura / Lear Jane Wolf married a second time to JOHN W. NEISS in
Trying to pinpoint When James Wolf died ,and his place of burial.
Head of household: JAMES M. WOLF (OR) JANE WOLF
Believe JAMES died between 1870 and 1887, so not sure if he is there ,
or, his wife LAURA , JANE , LEIR and LEON , JANE WOLF is head of household
have seen her name spelt all these ways.
There should be a
BENJAMIN WOLF with them/her age abt . 10 yrs old.
Also there are 4 girls , named
MARGARET A. WOLF age abt. 15yrs (in 1880)
LEONA WOLF age abt. 12 yrs (in 1880)
MINNIE BELL WOLF , abt. 8 yrs old
BERTIE / BIRDIA WOLF , abt. 3 yrs old
I was in Tamaroa today and Kenny Stockton was good enough to brave the cold and snow to show me around the cemetary. He has done a great job restoring it and I and all the members of the Mecum family thank him.
Could anyone tell me where a Mary French Davis is buried in Perry CO.?
She "died" ca. 1880-1900. Her husband was Hiram Davis b. 1851, probable
son of Hiram Davis and Nancy Viers Tyler Davis. This family was from
the Gallia CO. OH area.
There might have been a divorce between Mary French Davis and her
husband Hiram. The record is unclear right now.

I appreciate all of your hard work, as I am sure the other list members do.
I wanted to let you know that the all 3 links above work okay for me using
Internet Explore 4.71; however, I can't get anything to come up for Perry
County using Netscape Communicator 4.76. I just get a blank page with the
words "Document Done" in the bar at the bottom.
The Kaskaskia and Monroe sites come up using Netscape, but some of the
images are not shown - for example, the "Illinois Trails" at the top of the
page and the two "bridge construction" photos below the update message on
the Kaskaskia page do not display.
This is a pretty recent version of Netscape, and I am not having any other
problems at the moment. Perhaps others could comment as to whether they
have the same problems.

PLEASE SAVE THIS INFORMATION so you have it for future reference.
PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE of your fellow list members. Some folks are beginners at computers and some to genealogy. The world is a better place when we are all patient with each other. Personal attacks, criticism, or flaming are never permitted.
HOW DO YOU POST? Send an email to email@example.com
WHAT SHOULD YOU POST?
1. Questions about your ancestors. Give as much detail as you can.
2. Interesting history that is relevant to the list.
3. Genealogy and family history conferences, even if they charge for admission.
4. Genealogy societies should feel free to post about their society and their websites.
5. Book reviews of genealogy books are reasonable to post. A list of books is not, but sharing a good genealogy book you've found is a good idea.
6. Links to personal blogs that are about genealogy. They can be your blog or another. Even if the blog has ads, that is not a problem.
7. New collections on various genealogy sites that are relevant. We don't want advertisements, but if you find an interesting collection on Ancestry, FamilySearch, Library of Congress, or some other site that has relevance to the list, let people know.
WHAT SHOULD BE IN YOUR POST?
1. An informative but concise subject line.
2. When replying to a previous message, be sure to check that the intended recipient's address is showing in the Send To box of your email BEFORE clicking on SEND.
3. Proofread and be sure you want your post public. All posts go in the archives!
