Dear Listers ~
Three local DAR Chapters (Daughters of the American Revolution) from OGLE,
LEE, and STEPHENSON Counties will be hosting a "Genealogy Workshop" to be
held at the Ruby Nash Recreation Center located in Oregon, IL at 304 South
5th Street on Saturday, October 12, 2002 starting with coffee and
registration at 9:30 AM and ending approximately at 2:30 PM. Attending
ladies and gentlemen are asked to please bring a sack lunch for the noon
break. The Workshop is open to the public and no fee is charged.
The Illinois State Organization, NSDAR, and the three Chapters, namely,
Rochelle Chapter, Dixon Chapter, and Elder William Brewster Chapter will help
you to begin tracing your ancestry and finding the necessary proof of lineage
of your family tree. The morning session will be a lecture discussion on
materials available to help in your quest. The afternoon will be a "one on
one" help on your individual searches. Anyone interested in learning about
your family history and lineage is welcome to attend. Bring all family
history information you have: Bible records, copies of marriage licenses,
death certificates, wills, obituaries, to the meeting.
The Illinois Membership Task Force of the Illinois Society of the NSDAR
sponsors this Workshop, with the Task Force Chairman and her "workers" being
present to assist in any way they can. There will also be representatives
from each of the Chapters present to help. If you are interested in
researching your family lineage, you are welcome to attend.
