Samuel L. "Sam" Clark, 47, St. Francisville, passed away Friday, March 21,
2014, in Wayne County as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident.
He was born in Mt. Carmel Oct. 23, 1966, to Eddie Joe Clark and his wife
Virginia (Pemberton) Clark Roberts. He is survived by his wife, Teresa
(Bryant) Clark, whom he married in Richland County on Jan. 18, 2002.
Sam proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army
Desert Storm. He also was a member of the Big Red One out of Fort Sill,
Okla., American PRIDE was very close to his heart.
He was a member of the Calvary Apostolic Church of Lawrenceville and the
Francisville American Legion. Sam had been a correctional officer for the
Illinois Department of Corrections since 1994. He started at the Robinson
Correction Center in Robinson, and he was currently a correctional officer
at the Lawrence Correctional Center in Sumner. He was a member of the Tact
Team at both facilities.
Surviving family includes: wife, Teresa Clark, Iuka: mother, Virginia
Roberts and husband Harold, St. Francisville; four children, Hillery Lopez
and husband Mario of Carmi, James D. "JD" Clark, Shane N. Clark, and
L. "Sammy" Clark, Jr. all three of Iuka; three step-children, Jessica
and husband Gerry, Kell, Ill., Jennifer Marshall, Lawrenceville, and
Brittany Heath, Iuka; seven grandchildren, Carlos and Isabella Monroy, Rey
Lopez, Bryson, Gerryn, and Jayla Tabor, and Kendrix York; four sisters,
Christina Potts and husband James of St. Francisville, Sandra Monroy and
husband Paco of Lawrencville, Sarah Clark of St. Francisville and Susan
Clark of Lawrenceville: one brother, Randall Clark, St. Francisville: and
several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his father, Eddie Joe Clark; one son, Daniel
Eagan Clark; and one step-son, L/Cpl. Nicholas Kleiboeker.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at
Calvary Apostolic Church in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be held from 4
until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the church and Wednesday from 10 a.m.
Burial will take place in the Oaklawn Cemetery in St. Francisville.
Department of Corrections Honor Guard will perform rites. Military rites
will be given at the cemetery. Cunningham-Nichols Funeral Home in St.
Francisville is in charge of arrangements.

Clark to Calvary Apostolic Youth of Lawrenceville or Calvary Apostolic
