On the 1850 census I found a Nancy Lewis age 75 who was born in VA as head
of household. Living in the same household is James Lewis age 13 who was
born in IL. Living next door is William Lewis, age 28, wife Mary age 19 &
children Nancy & Abner.
I don't know if this is your Joseph or not but I also found a J.W. Lewis
whose post office was Sumner who owned land in Sec. 25, Twp. 3, Range 13.
He was a farmer & came to Lawrence Co. in 1840.
I can't seem to find my cemetery listing for Wabash Co. but there is a very
nice lady that works at the library in Mt. Carmel, Wabash Co., IL that would
probably look & see if there is a Joseph Lewis buried in Wabash Co. I'm not
sure if she would need the name of the cemetery or if there is an index of
all names. You might want to check with her. It may take a few days to
hear from her. Her e-mail address is bltaylor(a)hotmail.com Her first name
is Betty. Let me know how this turns out.

Allyn, would it be asking too much to have you look for Nancy Lewis,
Jos. Lewis, on the 1850 census. Joseph died in Lawrence County IL
I cannot find where he is buried. Do you know of a cemetery near
that might be in Wabash County near Lawrence County line? I suspect
where Josesph and Nancy are both buried.
Your help is greatly appreciated. If I can help you with any research,
please let me know.
