Mother of Rolla Brooks is Buried
Mrs. Casandra Brooks, 70 years old, was buried at the Water Valley cemetery about 12 miles
southeast of Makanda yesterday afternoon.
Mrs. Brooks had lived in Carbondale of her son, Rolla Brooks with whom she had been making
her home, Saturday afternoon. About a month ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis and
was never able to talk again.
Mrs. Brooks had lived in Carbondale about 25 years. She came here from Union county where
she was born. three children survive her, Mr. Brooks dying some years ago. They are:
Rolla Brooks of Carbondale; Mrs. W. A. Campbell, of Grenada, Miss., and Elmus Brooks, a
mute, of Iowa.
