Jim Niewold, long time CC of DeKalb County, is leaving ILGenWeb. We wish Jim
the very best in his future endeavors.
Fortunately, Jim found a replacement, Sheri Baker, to replace him as the CC
of DeKalb County. Please join us in welcoming Sheri as our newest member of
ILGenWeb.
Sheri provided me with the following short bio:
"I was born and raised in Wisconsin and moved to Sycamore, IL about 30 years
ago. I have researched my family history including the surnames Louden,
Beeler, Knippenberg, Eckert. My Loudens were first found in Clark County,
Indiana although family lore says they originated in Virginia. The other
surnames all originate in the Baden area of Germany. I have been able to
trace them starting with their immigration to the USA in the mid 1800's. My
research is not usually found on the internet unless it was shared by others
to whom I supplied the information. I have compiled it in a book entitled
Roots Along the Rivers which is derived from the fact that I was raised in
Prescott, WI which is located at the confluence of the Mississippi and St.
Croix rivers. I volunteer with the Joiner History Room in Sycamore. The JHR
is the official archives for old DeKalb county records and we also have
extensive genealogy records and thousands of pictures of the area. My
duties are to answer online and snail mail queries that mostly relate to
genealogy. I also have become the "indexer" for the Room. If an index
needs to be compiled, I usually do it because of my computer skills. It is
a great way to learn about the county. I also volunteer for Random Acts of
Genealogy Kindness, an online free service. I'm married with two grown sons
and three grandsons. My husband and I are both retired."
Sheri is new to the project and is learning about websites and uploading.
She is doing a great job!!
Jim, the best to you, and Sheri, welcome!!
