Help Share your Lincoln HistoryI don't know if everyone received one of these, or just
me, but if your county has a Lincoln connection, this might be an opportunity for some
free publicity for ILGenWeb and USGenWeb.
Give it some thought!

Dear Friends,
As the 200th Anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth is nearing, the Lt.
Governor would like to help Illinois cities share their Lincoln history. Through the
allocation of our history we can help educate and celebrate the life of Abraham Lincoln.
So if you would like to share your counties Lincoln history please email me at
cameron.schilling(a)illinois.gov or call me at 217-558-1847.
Those cities that participate will be asked to submit a brief overview (about one
to two paragraphs) of their history with the 16th President of the United States. Below is
an example submitted from Dixon, Illinois:
"Lincoln served part of his only federal military service at the site of the black
hawk war block-house on the rock river at Dixon. In 1929 a statue was placed in Dixon at
this site. It was dedicated in 1930 during Dixon's 100th anniversary. This statue in
Dixon is the only statue of Lincoln in the state in which he is dressed in military
uniform."
So if you could please send a few paragraphs about the link your cities have to Lincoln
within your county
Thanks For Sharing,
Cameron M. Schilling
