Yep, it's that time again folks! We've had some changes in CC's and some
CC's we haven't heard from in a while. We need to know who's still alive
and kicking out there.
Please respond by name and county site - and for a bonus - confirm your
email.
We'll be looking into those we don't hear from to see if those sites have
been abandoned in the last few months, so if you're here ... save us all the
trouble of tracking you down! <G>
When we get the roll call done we'll be making some announcements on
available counties for adoption, so stay tuned.

You want to be a CC you agree UPFRONT to abide by the rules. One of the
rules is you keep in contact. It's really not a difficult thing to do. I'll
bet when you were an SC you expected folks to abide by the rules.

Mokely does not appear in "Illinois Place Names". I just checked it. I would
say Joy is closest with Mokeler Creek.

Could have been one of those "paper" towns that were speculative and never
came to pass but their names found their way into books. The
characterization as a "ghost" town made me think of that. The exact location
has, in many cases, been lost. Do you have that list of all place names in
Illinois published, I believe, by ISGS, many years ago? I don't but in the
past some people on this list have had a copy.

Thanks Joy - after I wrote I went back and also found Mokeler Creek
which I passed along to her.

It would be a good idea to develop a list of CCs who use Mac and who use
PCs, what software people use and if they are available to help other CCs.
Long ago and far away we had such a list but it fell by the wayside at some
point. We could post the list on a private page so it is available to all
CCs.
I use a PC. I have been using a PC for 24 years, back before Bill Gates
introduced compatibility and software was machine specific. My long term use
is important ONLY because I still do some things the old way. I KNOW we all
need to move everything to the most modern code for so many reasons but I'm
not there yet. If I would just let Coffee Cup code my pages instead of going
in and doing parts myself it would be a good start!
According to the Google blog, your web site's chance of being THE ONE at the
top of the list are substantially improved if your code is clean and modern.
Of course, you have to have good content too but clean code plays a
significant role. Who knew.
The list could include things like who feels they could help with which
aspect of web pages.
If you are willing to participate email me off list so this list doesn't get
bogged down.
Cheryl
Boone and Winnebago still alive and well, although some around me are
wondering if they are going to make it thru the week with no cigarettes,
since I quit! <LOL>
