This obituary appeared in The Weiser Signal for Thursday, December 4, 1913 on page 5:
"CIVIL WAR VETERAN DIES OF SENILITY IN EAST WEISER
Henry Gibbons died at the home of W. D. Graham in the east part of the city Tuesday
evening at 9 o'clock after an illness of several weeks. He was 72 years and 8 months
of age at the time of his death, the cause of which was given by the physician as
A veteran of the Civil War he will be buried by the local post of the city. The funeral
will be held from the Sommercamp-Cordelle chapel Friday at 2 o'clock.
He enlisted in the state of New York and during the rebellion he served in two companies
in the capacity of sergeant in each. His surviving relatives are all in the New England
states, with the exception of a sister living in California. He will be buried in the
