Seek information on the life and ancestors of John Joseph Thamm (1882-1917)
and his wife Estella Morgan (1886-1970); also, the second husband of Estella
Morgan Thamm: George J. Roessler.
John Joseph Thamm was born 28 March 1882 in Colorado Springs, CO and died 29
July 1917 in Hailey, ID. His obituary was published in the Wood River Times
on 30 July 1917, which stated that he was "the second of the four Thamm
brothers the others being Gregory, the eldest of Wyoming, Bernard P. the newspaperman
of Hailey, and Oscar E the assistant cashier of the Hailey National Bank. He
had three sisters, Mrs. Ida Bannister and Miss Emma Thamm of Hailey and Mrs.
Frank Anthony of Mackay".
John Joseph Thamm and Estella Morgan were married 12 March 1905 in Mackay,
Custer County, ID. They had one son, John Thamm, born 12 Aug 1912 in Jerome
County, ID, died before 1970 in St. Maries, ID.
Estella Morgan was born 20 Feb 1886, place unknown, and died Dec 1970 in
Spokane, WA. Her second marriage was to George J. Roessler on 28 Feb 1922 in
Lincoln County, ID; it is unknown if this marriage ended in divorce or in death
of husband; and it is unknown if there were children by this marriage.
The web site familysearch.com lists a Johan Thamm, born 21 Nov 1845 and died
15 Nov 1901, with a reference to Hailey, Blaine County, ID, but it is unknown
if this Johan Thamm is the father or other relative of the Thamm family
members listed above. The Thamms of Hailey were said to be Catholic, and this fact
and the name Johan suggests that the Thamm family may have come from a
Catholic region of Germany, Switzerland or Austria.
