ELMER J. 'Dinger' CADA
Elmer J. "Dinger" Cada, 72, a Potlatch native and longtime resident, died of cancer Monday
at the Moscow Care Center in Moscow.
He was born Dec. 11, 1919, at Potlatch, to Joseph G. and Catherine Sima Cada. He grew up
and attended schools in Potlatch.
Cada married Audrey Steward on July 31, 1944, at Potlatch. He worked at the Potlatch Lumber Co. (later Potlatch Forests, Inc., now Potlatch Corp.) as a setter at the mill.
In 1951, they moved to Lewiston where he worked for the Potlatch Forest mill for five years. They returned to Potlatch and he began working as a bartender at the Potlatch Hotel and at the Potlatch Confectionery.
Cada later worked as a janitor at both the University of Idaho and Washington State University, retiring in 1982.
He continued to live at Potlatch and had been in failing health for the past two years.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Potlatch and was a former member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and watching sports on television.
Survivors include his wife of Potlatch; a brother, Joseph Cada of Potlatch; two sisters, Charlotte Cada of Post Falls, Idaho, and Violet Cada of Spokane.
There will be no services, at his request, and his body will be cremated. Burial will be at a later date at the Freeze Cemetery north of Potlatch.
The family suggests memorials to the Potlatch Ambulance Fund or to the Hospice of Palouse,
803 S. Jefferson, Moscow.
