Subject: [IDGENWEB] Monthly Roll Call - November 1, 2012
Good Morning Idahoans,
This month and forward, I'm going to be doing only one roll call
announcement a month. So it's your job to make yourself known to me,
personally, or to this list. It's up to you. I'm glad to have all of your
guys on my team. You're a great bunch. I hope ya'll will continue to serve
your county well and make your patrons proud of your hard work. Anyway,
I'll
start by saying that IDGenWeb doing well and I'm checking in for Ada and
Blaine counties.
Sherri Bradley, our National Coordinator for the USGenWeb Project was
contacted last fall by a reporter from the "Farmer's Almanac" for an
interview about online genealogical research. The article got published
recently for the "Farmer's Almanac 2013" edition, called "Digging Up
Roots"
(URL:
http://www.farmersalmanac.com/home-garden/2012/10/29/digging-up-roots/).
It's uncertain how long this link will be up but it's a great source to
share with your patrons on your county's website(s) and other places too.
The link will also be placed on th USGenWeb Project website to be shared
with our volunteers and researchers alike. Thanks to Farmer's Almanac (URL:
http:farmersalmanac.com/) for recognizing USGenWeb and its volunteers for
being the continributing cause for fre access to genealogical research.
Sherri Bradley extended her wishes to ya'll ... "Thanks to EVERYONE that
works to make the USGenWeb Project what it is!"
"Hear-Hear!!! Idahoans!" Thanks for making IDGenWeb Project a part of who
you are VOLUNTEERS! That's what makes our GenWeb projects so great.
I hope everyone had a great past month. I would like to hear what you had
done for our "Family History Month" that made a different in our
genealogical society. As for me, I would like to say that I've added some
stuff on some of my county's projects.
Well, fall is surely here in Arkansas, though the cold is setting in
nicely.
We've had some freezing temperatures but nothing like bundling up in the
early morning run. That was such a fun morning for me. It felt great. All
is
well, in my neck of the woods. My family are doing good considering. My
wife
is still trying to recover from her earlier unexpected illness but she has
her good days and down days. Of course, it helped to get a new bed to sleep
in to help the recovery. Our last bed was a bit lumpy-bumpy and
spring-pinching uncomfortable. Had anyone felt that way with your bed
before? LOL We finally decided on a "Select Comfort" bed.
AAaaahh!!! Sweet dreams.
Alright, enough of me! I'm sure you are giggling at my nonsense here. I
have
gotten one patron's request to help her find a birth mother that connected
to her husband's adoption. The woman went to Fort Worth, Texas to have a
baby born on January 1, 1973. Recently, she got a hold of the original
birth
certificate that basically states the birth mother's name is Patricia Gayle
Johnson, birthplace in Idaho and aged at the time of her child birth, 19.
Given only this much information. It showed that she lived at a certain
address in Texas but it's unknown whom she was living with until the birth
of her baby boy. So the patron is hoping to find out more about this birth
mother. Sorry all she has is the general birth place of Idaho. No county or
city or town. Do you think we can help her out. She would have been born
sometime in 1953-54. I've connected the ISHS to see if they have any of
those birth records from that time periods, since I heard they inherited
some of them from the state government. From my own looking around, the
woman has already placed ads on some of the national adoption registry. Can
you guys check around for this patrons, perhaps for some high school
yearbook about 1970-72. Maybe if there's some college yearbook for 1972?
Well, I would love to hear from everyone this month. I hope ya'll are ready
for the upcoming holiday---Thanksgiving Day. What your plans this year? Oh!
Please extend some good thoughts and prayers to those effected by the
"Superstorm Sandy" in NYC and NJ and don't forget to extend personal
prayers
for some of our own team members. We've heard about some of them already
but
it's nice to keep them in our thoughts and prayers.
Well, have a great month, Idahoans.
Love ya'll,
Matt Friend
