Subject: [IDGENWEB] May 11, 2012 Roll Call & Announcements
Good Morning, Idahoans,
Another has past and it time for those to check in for the month. I have
paid for our Blue Host account today. We are good for the next three years
(expired July 20, 2015). Thanks again to those who donated to our hosting
funds.
I’ve updated our website with some new things:
1. “Idahoan Legacy Roots” featuring “The Werry Family.” If you have a
family legacy with Idaho roots, then submit your family history to me and I
can add them to my list of others stories (awaiting for author’s approval).
2. “Genealogy Research Techniques” features “Ten Effective Strategies
for Building a Family Tree.” This is a great resource for seeing where you
are not able to build up your lineage that seems a bit sparse or bare.
3. Added a new link in our “Links” (
http://idgenweb.org/links.html)
page: White Spring Ranch Museum & Archive Library. If you know of any
museums, local societies or resourceful Idaho sources to add here, then
email me the URL and its organization. Let’s build up our website with lots
of resources.
4. A new item on our “Idaho Resource Library” (
http://idgenweb.org/special_projects.html) given permission to link to this
historical works of Martha (Lorang) Johnson’s Facts and Fun of the Early
John Lorang Family and Genesee, Idaho Ranch.
Thanks to Mike St. Clair for your resourcefulness of sending our team a
useful tool to search for and repair bad links on our website(s). Xenu’s
Link Sleuth ™ URL:
http://home.snafu.de/tilman/xenulink.html. I’ve used
this in the past and find it very helpful especially when you have a large
website with over 900 pages.
Also, Thanks to Sharon for sharing with us the VFW’s latest article on
Civil War Veterans & the Homestead Act (VFW, May 2012, p. 28) URL:
http://digitaledition.qwinc.com/publication/?i=106420&p=30. And another
article from the same magazine “Civil War Gave Birth to National
Cemeteries” URL:
http://digitaledition.qwinc.com/publication/?i=106420&p=42.
Well, I hope you guy are having a great start for your summer. Any plans
for this summer? It looks like I am not going anywhere for the moment. Both
my wife and I will not be finish with classes until the end of June and
then, well, not sure what will happen. All is well for us in our neck of
the woods. I hope for the same to you folks.
Have a great weekend,
Matt Friend
