I received this post from Carolyn Ruby at the Idaho State Archives and
thought it should be shared with you all:
The good news first. The Idaho Vital Records people have decided to release
more birth, marriage, and death records to the Idaho State Archives. We are
not sure yet exactly how many records we will be getting but hope to have
them available within the next couple of months. We will not be offering
certified copies of those records, only providing them for genealogy
research purposes.
We are very excited about getting those records and anticipate a large
volume of requests for those records. Which brings me to the bad news. Our
volunteer who was assisting with filling that type of request has a fairly
serious medical problem and most likely won’t be back. So not only are we
down that one person who gave us invaluable assistance, we are anticipating
an increased need for volunteer assistance. Would you please share the word
with members of the Gen Society and the DRC. There is a volunteer
application form available online at
http://www.history.idaho.gov/sites/default/files/uploads/volunteer_form.p...
or,
alternatively, people may contact me and I will get the form sent to them.
Thank you!
Carolyn
