Kelly & Matt,
I did some research at the Idaho State Archives with regards to the Hatch
family. Idaho didn't keep "official" birth records until 1907. But the
counties may have them. I will be checking some microfilm for Kootenai
County births. I am also going to check the Kootenai Tax deeds for any of
the Hatch family. They go back to 1894. I check for the local (Hope,
Idaho) newspapers, but unfortunately the roll of microfilm I need has been
checked out. It should be back in a couple of weeks.
I did find a school census for Kootenai County, Fall 1898 thru Spring
1903, that listed a B H Hatch & Bruce Hatch with children Emery & Lee in
the Sandpoint school district in 1898-1900. I have attached a pdf file
with the information. Hope this will help.
Thanks, Virginia

Thanks, Kelly the man she trying to find the birth records for is Howard
Beebe Hatch. He was born in October 1899. His parents were married in
Koontenai County in 1894, however they were resident of Missoula County
Montana. I'm thinking that since in the 1900 census his father was a
"sawyer lumber" that he worked for the forestry and Kootenai County was
probably the closest to them then in that part of Montana at the time.
Anyway, she was told that the courthouse was destroyed where his record
was, but apparently she was not told which courthouse. She figured it was
in Kootenai County, but if that was the case, then won't the marriage
records be destroyed too? I suggested to her to check the State Vital and
Health Dept for it, even though I know 1907 was the beginning of the
official records keeping. However, I'm thinking that he might have applied
for a "delayed birth" record. They lived in Canada and he ended up decease
there too.
