Hello Matthew,
I am searching for information about my family when they lived and worked
in the mines in at least, Burke, Idaho 1903-1908 and I am hoping that you
can help or direct me to someone who is knowledgeable about Burke, ID from
about 1903-1908.
The family is George Alberts, Sr ( 1878 CT-1918 CA) married to
Elizabeth A. *Martin
*Alberts ( 1875 England-1912 Butte, MT). Between 1901 and 1903, they had
two sons born in Rossland, B.C. as Clarence was the first ( 1902 BC-1908
MT) and George Jr. ( 1903 B.C.-1918 CA) the second. While living/working in
Burke, they had a third son, Charles Edward in 1907 who survived childhood.
Records indicate that Elizabeth and George had a 4th child between
1903-1907 who did not survive and whose death record might be found.
In March 1908, George Alberts moved his family to Butte, MT to work in the
mines there but the records for Burke and the surrounding area are what I
am hoping to find . I had thought that just because the son Charles Edward
was born in Burke, it could be possible that his father George mined in
other locations as well.
I would certainly appreciate any information you might be able to share
with me about Burke in about 1903-1908. I have found some old postcards and
photographs with descriptions on the internet and it sure looks like a
rough place for a growing family to live in………………..
Thanks!
