Hi Everyone
I'm beginning to see a much bigger picture there. I've found a 1904 plat
map of Hall County, Nebraska. They were living in Center Twp. so here's the
PDF of that plat map ...
http://www.hallcountyne.gov/links/Deeds/Atlas/1904/1904_13.pdf?-session=h...
I was able to confirm all of the owned farms except for two the Noyes and
Jerome. But after looking more on census, these two men moved out of the
area or died. For example, Noyes died in 1929 but moved to Rock County
(1910) and Holt County (1920) but moved back to Hall county where he died.
Jerome died in Kansas in 1909. They may have sold their land off before
this 1904 plat map was made.
I was able to find McMaster in the center left section of some 80 acres but
the next five farm landholders it was in the middle near the bottom by the
RR tracks. So my ancestor walked or rode more than 3 miles of land at a
diagonal. I wish I could mark this PDF file. There's about 9 or 10
landholders after Mc Master's farm. So I'll have to study this a bit more
before I can say how many miles from point A to point B. Again I'll be
guessing because of the last two owners moved away before this 1904 plat
map was made.
Here's my assessment of these twelve household from Mc Master's farm to

How far is it across a 40-acre farm? I’ve read this blog from *Farm
Collector Blog* that talks about how many miles a farmer goes when he
plows his 40 acres of land. Sam Moore, author of “Miles Per Acres,” stated
that one side of 40 acres is 1/4 mile. Another words, each side of 40-acres
is 1/4 miles, if I’m understanding Sam Moore explanation. Then to walk or
ride a horse straight across one’s farm, it’ll be 1/4 mile, and then I
multiple this by 12 farms (straight across). It comes to 3 miles, right?!
