I hadn't either until you mentioned it. I was going to break it down by decade,
but I think that is over-complicating it. -- Another 10 inches or so of snow on
top of the 5 over the weekend; good day to transcribe something.

The governors who never set foot in Idaho are quite noteworthy. Never thought of
that!

Subject: [IDGEN] territorial government
Idaho Almanac, 1977 Edition, published by The Executive Office of the Governor,
John V. Evans and The Idaho Division of Tourism and Industrial Development,
State Capitol Building, Boise, Idaho, p. 8:
"The story of the territorial governors reads not like a whodunit, but like a
whodidn't. Sixteen governors were appointed by presidents between 1863 and
statehood 27 years later. Five of the governors never set foot in Idaho. . . .
All but one of the territorial governors were Republican, but the legislatures
were Deomocratic, elected by the Confederate refugees who had moved to the
mines."

The Idaho Blue Book (available from the Sec. of State's office) has alpha
listings. The Almanac breaks it down by sessions & lists which co. the
representatives represented. But of course with the original counties, it's not
clear where they actually lived. Right now I'm thinking the best place for this
info is "archives/statewide records." Any thoughts?
