Personally, if it were up to me and I was available, I would go. You might consider
teaching something about reading old scripts and deciphering censuses and the like and
encourage practice by bringing some older census pages that need transcription.....
What about encouraging submissions and explaining that everything you have available on
your site was either donated by someone or was something that you did yourself? Sometimes
people don't realize that we don't have much unless we actively seek it out....
Maybe show some sample pages and how they were transcribed. Or giving samples of items
that people volunteer to "lookup". I think I would concentrate not so much on
how to use the items but on how to transcribe them to be the most accurate and therefore
the most valuable.....
Just my two cents (because of inflation, only worth a half a cent....)
