Information has come to an USGenWeb National Advisory Board
member, and thence to the other members of the Board, that a
filter has been put in place at Rootsweb that rejects E-mail sent by
several people. This action is a matter between those individuals
and the RW administrator.
The USGenWeb National Advisory Board has taken no action to
instigate this action on the part of RootsWeb. This Board has now
received a forwarded copy of a communication from RootsWeb
[on the -ALL list] explaining this matter. Four people were
suspended from RootsWeb lists for thirty (30) days. At the end of
that period the individuals may be reinstated.
The RootsWeb administrator is within his rights to make and
enforce rules to protect his equipment and system from physical
and legal damage.
One of these individuals has called upon the USGenWeb National
Advisory Board to take action to rectify this situation. This person
claims that RootsWeb's actions have "disenfranchised" and
prevented this member from voting.
A member of the USGenWeb National Advisory Board has
checked on this individual's ability to vote. This is NOT being
denied to the member, or any other member. Therefore, the
USGenWeb National Advisory Board is not taking and will take no
further action since it is a matter between the Rootsweb and this
individual.
