(this is for forwarding to cc's)
The Board has the draft version of the bylaws pretty well tuned; we will
be meeting in IRC in the early part of next week to make sure that we
have all the bugs out of it, and then it will be posted later next week
so that folks can comment/discuss/whatever. After everybody gets done
discussing them, they'll get voted on---without knowing how active the
discussion will be, we can't set a firm date for that vote yet; it'd be
nice if it could be at the same time as the election, if we can work
that out.
Dale has the election software just about warmed up as well. Probably
in late May or early June we'll have a test run of the software, using a
real issue (most likely whether or not each region needs two cc reps,
rather than one).
Then during most of the month of June (up to about the 25th), we'll be
accepting nominations for CC reps, SC reps, and NC. That last little
bit of June will be to ensure the election committee has time to verify
candidates (make sure they really hold the position they've been
nominated to represent; make sure they'd be willing to serve if elected)
and to permit the candidates to write a blurb about themselves for the
website committee to post online, so that folks can learn about the
various candidates.
Then during July, we will have the actual election. The voting period
will likely be the entire month, because of vacation season; very few if
any voters are assumed to be planning to be out of contact with email
for the entire month of July. (Should you be an exception, please
contact Dale (maddoc(a)rootsweb.com) to see if you can work out a way to
vote in advance or something.)
The month of August is planned as a transition period, to allow the new
folks to get a feel for what their job entails and work with the
outgoing folks; then September first they're on their own.<G>
