- which recently announced the beginning of a project to place
approximately 200,000 obituaries from on 5 X 8 cards that have been
collected by volunteers for about 25 years on line. Currently about 2600
are live.
A search engine to the index of the Official Records of the Union and
Confederate Armies, commonly known as the O.R. Cornell University put this
entire 130 volume set on line back in the summer. The current index has
approx. 370,000 entries and indexes down to the volume level, but not the
page. You will still need to browse through the index to the individual
volumes to find a particular page number, but the search engine as it
stands makes the whole set much easier to use.
The Index is on line at

These are some of the ones that came to my attention this week that I felt
had broad enough scope to pass along.
