Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
FYI. If you have any links to a census transcription at
www.us-census.orgthat start with ftp, you will need to change your
links. remove the ftp.
(including the period) and it should work fine.

The USGenWeb Census Project? http://www.us-census.org has moved to a new
server. In doing this we decided to do away with anonymous ftp and this
has
caused the links to our transcription files to change.
If you have a link to any of our transcription files on your county pages
simply remove the "ftp." from the link to update it.
Thank you

Sorry Idahoans,
I forgot to add that Owyhee County is up for adoption. Owyhee is our largest
county in the southwest corner of the state. If you have any resources or
know of any connection to Owyhee County. You can now adopt this county.
Contact me via email (blindgenealogist(a)gmail.com). Jimmy Parker had some
health issues, so he had to resign his position as our County Coordinator.
He told me that he does have more resource material to add. So if you would
like to adopt this county, I can forward his phone number to request what
stuff he have available.
Thanks,
Matt Friend

As the anniversary of 9-11 nears, the feeling in many circles is that there
may be increasing numbers of hacking attacks against websites and/or
specific servers. Should the unthinkable occur (whether by a hacking
attack, server failure or closure, or other catastrophic event), it may be
vitally important that you have a current, backed-up copy of your site(s).
Please take the time to ensure that you have a good backup of your sites so
that you'll have it if needed, and remember to make periodic backups, as
well, in the future. You never know what will happen. (I've got to admit
that I am not the most organized person and need to take heed of my own

Yes I knew of this one. I came around it when I was helping with updating
some of the cemetery link to Clearwater County.
Folks in those counties ought to link to this as well as your own resource.
It is a good resource.

Actually, I don't plan to leave IDGenWeb. I've been with NEGenWeb for 10
years now and I thought I would branch into Idaho since my interest is
Blaine/Alturas county. I have a great grand uncle who lived there after the
Civil War when he had decided to stake his claim in the mining industry in
Nevada, Montana, South Dakota and then came to Idaho in 1879 to the Wood
River Mining Camp. He never married but seems to have been a loyal friend to
many.
So I now have a 5 or 6 inch notebooks of documentations on him from various
places in Idaho.

Hello Idahoans,
Wow! Can’t believe it is September already. Can you? Well, folks we are
heading into an state election soon. Please think about who you would like
to be your next State Coordinator and nominate him or her. I would like to
welcome Christina Palmer from our USGenWeb Election Committee to our list.
She and another member of the committee will be conducting our state
election. Welcome Christina!
A reminder for you who are on Facebook! Come join us on IDGenWeb Facebook
group (http://www.facebook.com/groups/idgenweb/) I want to give a
round-of-applause to one of our own Idahoans Team member, Sharon McConnel
for her extended volunteering work in cleaning up some of our Adopt-a-County
sites. Thanks, Sharon!!! <two thumbs up> Last month, ended in a good and bad
note for the IDGenWeb Project, we gain and lost a team member. Many of you
have welcomed Deb Nelson for our Latah County, however, we lost Jimmy
Parker of Owyhee County. So this county is up for adoption if you are
interested. Let me know.
Well, things are going a bit awry for me in the heart of
Arkansas. Heats not backing off, school in full swing now, and my wife and I
plan to move back to Russellville in a few weeks (maybe?). After my last job
interview had fell through, I’ve decided to go back to school again. Yes, I
am going to graduate school. I am now registered at American Public
University System (APUS). I am going for my master’s in American History. It
will be for the next couple of years but I’ll still be looking for work
since all the classes I am taking will be online.
I hope you folks had a great summer. Please be safe and have
fun over the Labor Day weekend. I wish I could run away from home this
weekend but I don’t think it would be fun with all the others going out at
the same time this weekend. <smirk> I don't want to be mowed over by a
crowd.

Hello!
Thanks to everyone who warmly welcomed me!
I've made it onto the Latah county site and added my name and contact info.
I'm currently reviewing the pages on the website to become familiarized and
also planning how I'd like to set up the pages. I'm excited to join the
team!
I'm hoping to do more with the site soon. Have had a couple setbacks due to
a nephew's wedding across the state from where I live and also due to work.
I work for a company with employees nationwide, and some of my coworkers
were affected by the recent hurricane and unable to work, so I've had to
jump in with some extra hours. Hopefully, things are settling down now.

We've updated Clark County the end of August. Bonnie Stoddard, the county
historian continues to contribute information and updates which have been a
great help. We added several historical brownbag events for Idaho.
Unfortunately for the folks in Clark most of them occur in Boise. Several
maps were added which show the progression of the formation of Clark County
from 1870 through 1919.
Finally, we've entered nearly all of the graves and cemeteries for Clark
County and have them in a searchable excel spreadsheet by cemetery and
alphabetical by surname for the county. Bonnie is going through the
cemeteries to ensure we continue to get updates and add any missing
information.

Subject: [IDGENWEB] September 2,2011 - Roll Call
<smirk> I don't want to be mowed over by a
crowd.
Have a great weekend,
Matt Friend
