Oris Kaa Cook, 89, died Jan. 20, 2012 in Montpelier, due to causes incident to age. Kaa
was born on Oct. 3, 1922 in Garden City, the seventh of ten children born to Joseph Nelson
Cook and Julia Alnora Dustin.
He was raised on a farm where he learned to enjoy hunting, fishing, and ranching, and
being outdoors. He graduated from North Rich High School in 1941. He went to USU for a
year and served in the Navy during World War ll.
Kaa married Beatrice Willie on July 7, 1944 in San Diego. After the war they returned to
Garden City, where they farmed for many years.
They were the parents of six children, Wayne Kaa Cook (Christine), Cokeville, Julie Cook
Rich (Steven), Hyrum, LaDawn Cook Jensen (Clifford), Mink Creek, Ted Willie Cook
(deceased), Steven James Cook, Boise, Kenneth Willie Cook (Nanette), Cokeville.
Kaa Cook was very active in the community, and in the LDS Church all his life. During his
Garden City years he served as County Commissioner, on the Bear lake Regional Commission
and as a Bishop.
ln 1975 they moved to Cokeville, where he ranched until his death.
Kaa was predeceased by his wife, Beatrice and infant son Ted, plus all of his siblings
except, Lew Cook (Mildred).
Funeral services will be held Jan. 28 at the Cokeville LDS Chapel. A viewing will be held
at the Cokeville Chapel from 11 a.m. to 12.45 p.m. with the services following at 1 p.m.
The interment will be in the Garden City Cemetery.
