Clifford "Pete" Larry Gould, 65, passed away peacefully in his home in on Oct.
6, 2011. Pete was born on Dec. 6, 1945 in Custer, South Dakota to Nina and Raymond Gould.
At the age of six the family moved to Nampa, Idaho and later to Parma.
While living in Parma, Pete excelled in athletics, setting records in high hurdles,
leading scorer in basketball, and was captain of the football team. After graduating from
high school, he went on attend Boise Junior College and Treasure Valley Community
Pete was a Vietnam Veteran and was in the US Navy from 1966 to 1970.
On March 4 of 1967, Pete married the love of his life, Marlyn Woodland in Winnemucca,
Nevada, and was later sealed to his family for all time and eternity on April 21, 1978, in
the Salt Lake City Temple.
Pete was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1977 and
served in many callings, including Cubscout Master, Young Men president, Elders Quorum
president, councelor in the bishopric, ward clerk, High Priest group leader, highcouncil
member, and also served a mission with Marilyn in the Addiction Recovery Program.
Pete worked on the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline as a member of Pipelines Local 798. Pete spent
most of his working career as a welder with the Idaho department of transportation, and
retired after 29 years with them.
Pete's many hobbies included the Meridian Athletic Association, all sports, coaching
both basketball and baseball for the church, and especially golf. The greatest love of his
life however was his grandchildren.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Kenneth Dean Gould, sister, Pamela
Maiden, and one grandson, Ethan Dean Gould. He is survived by his wife, Marylin Woodland
Gould of Dingle, daughter Amy (Darren) Swain of Oceanside, California, son, Jason (Amy)
Gould of Farmington, grandchildren, Taylor, Owen, Sophie, and Piper Swain of Oceanside,
and Griffin, Connor, Cole, and Greyson Gould of Farmington, brothers Delbert, Jim, Jerry,
and Richard Gould, and sisters Donna Jean Warren, and Sharon Kay Henderson.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at 1 p.m. in the Dingle LDS
Chapel. Friends may call prior to services from 10:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Interment will be
in the Dingle Cemetery.
Pete always stayed positive and fought bravely with his battle with cancer till the very
