Our loving husband and father passed away October 28, 2011. A great and humble follower of
Christ has passed whose spirit will live on in future generations. Born July 3, 1922 in
Georgetown, Idaho to Nephi Walter and Ada Smart Payne. Married Margie Nielsen in the Logan
LDS Temple December 19, 1946. They were the proud parents of Janice (Steve Bohen), Dale
(Rosalie), Darla, Glenn (Janine) and Don (LeAnn); grandparents to 14 grandchildren, 19
Enlisted in the Navy and was "volunteered" into the Marines in WWII, served the
Second Marines and our country proudly in Saipan, floating reserve at Okinawa, and
occupation duty at Nagasaki from March 1944 - July 1946.
Shovel operator for Kennecott Copper for 35 years. Set and held the world record for the
most dirt moved in an 8-hour shift.
Junior was a loving parent that always was willing to give to others, never thinking about
himself. Junior never thought or would say anything bad about anyone and always found the
good in others. He IS the wind beneath OUR wings.
WE ALL MISS YOU and look forward to meeting again.
Funeral will be Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Union Fort 5th Ward, 6770 S.
500 E. Viewings Tuesday, November 1 from 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, and
Wednesday at the church from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Midvale City Cemetery.
