PARIS-Lloyd Junior Passey, 89, devoted father, grandfather and greatgrandfather,
passed away February 13, 2011, in Montpelier. He was born March 24, 1921, in the family
home in Paris. He was the 11th child born to George H. and Carrie Roberts Passey. Lloyd
grew up in Paris and graduated from Fielding High School then joined the Civilian
Conservation Corps (CCC) in McCall. In August 1942, he was inducted into the U.S. Army
During a short furlough, he married Gwen Rich on Aug. 5, 1944, in Soda Springs. In Aug.
1951, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.
On Dec. 19, 1944, during World War II, he was taken prisoner in the Battle of the
Bulge. He was in various prison camps and was liberated on April 13, 1945, after having
been a POW for four months.
Lloyd was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served
as a faithful home teacher. He also served in the elder's quorum, high priest quorum,
stake Young Men's, Sunday school presidency and as financial clerk of the Bloomington
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Gwen, of 66 years; four children, Annette (LeRoy) Ludwig
of Montpelier, Barbara (James) Earl of Bountiful, John (Vicki) Passey of Las Vegas and
Steven (April) Passey of Montpelier. He is survived by 12 grandchildren, three
step-grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his parents, 10 brothers and sisters and four half-sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday February 18, 2011, at noon in the Paris Stake
Center. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11:45 a.m. prior to services. Military rites
will be performed at the Paris Cemetery following the services.
