I am not a descendent of Laker family but I do have some information about them. My Great
Grandmother Susannah Juchau Price 1845 to 1923 travelled with Lashbrook Laker and his wife
across country to Utah. From the history of Susannah was written by my Grandmother
Elizabeth Price: Sussanah came to Utah at the age of 15 with Brother Lashbrook Laker and
his wife in 1861. They came with the Milo Andrus Company and arrived in Salt Lake City
September 16, 1861. She came alone without her parents. Sussanah drove an ox team across
the plains for Brother Laker and so she walked most of the way. She had only one pair of
shoes and they wre soon worn out, from then on she went barefoot. Much of the way they
came through cactus covered land and her feet bled much of the time. When they arrived in
Utah they settled in Grantsville and later moved to Skull Valley. When Susannah
wasn't out working she lived with the Lakers. The indians were very bad in that
section at that time O!
ne time the indians came to the ranch and stole all the cattle. Brother Laker and
GRandmother hid in case the indians came back but the indians did not return. Sussanah
married Robert Price in 1862 and they moved to Paris, Idaho. I know nothing else about
the Lakers but I thought you might find this interesting.
