Orson William Hymas (O.W.), 81, born Nov. 8, 1930 in Liberty, Idaho, to Orson and Emma
Hymas, passed away March 23, 2012 at the Bear Lake Memorial Skilled Nursing Facility in
O.W. spent his young years on a ranch in Liberty and attended schools in the Bear Lake
Valley, after which he joined the army and was stationed in Germany. Upon returning from
service he met and married Elaine Haddock, together they had three children, two
daughters, Cindy and Patricia, and a son Kim. Later they divorced and he married Marie
Hymas, and they lived in Ogden where he worked in construction. Eventually they returned
to Bear Lake and he worked for Dennis and Roger Hunzeker on their ranch. He also spent a
lot of time with Dr. James Costello taking care of animals.
O.W. enjoyed the great outdoors, ranching, fishing, hunting, and taking long drives around
the countryside and in the mountains. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, and was a High Priest when he passed away. He loved his family and
enjoyed his granddaughters and great-grandchildren.
O.W. was preceded in death by his parents Orson and Emma, four brothers, six sisters, wife
Marie, and daughters, Cindy and Patricia. He is survived by his son, Kim (Kathy) Hymas,
one sister, Phyllis, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren who love and miss
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 2 at the Montpelier Second Ward LDS Church
at noon. Friends may call prior to services from 11 to 11:45.
